Looking forward to a new year at the Mission
2021 was supposed to be the year that everything got back to normal. Well, for many it turned out to be a year of starts and stops, slow progress and frustrations. And yet, despite the ups and downs, one thing remained true: God’s steadfast love never wavered and His mercies never ended. Throughout this past year and every year of our existence, the Ventura County Rescue Mission has witnessed the provisions and blessing of God each and every day.
This New Year of 2022 marks a tremendous milestone in the history of the Ventura County Rescue Mission—our 50th anniversary. For the past half century the Mission has been providing refuge, recovery and restoration to those hurting and in need. By the grace of God, the support of generous donors, and the efforts of a dedicated staff, countless individuals have received hot meals, warm beds, and clean clothing. Lives have been transformed, hope restored, addicts have found recovery, and families reconciled.
For the past 14 years I have had a front row seat to these wonderful transformations, first as a chaplain, then program manager, and then as the assistant director. Now, I am honored to serve as the new director of the Ventura County Rescue Mission as we enter our 50th year. While I can’t tell you exactly what 2022 will bring, I can promise that God’s grace will continue to be amazing and that His love will never fail!
Over the coming months we look forward to meeting you and will be inviting you to join with us to celebrate our 50th anniversary with a variety of events to remember the past and look forward to the future.
Blessings,
Michael Darden
Director
