Arrested by God
“One day I was sitting in my van and there was a lot of illegal activity going on and for some reason I was thinking, ‘this can’t keep happening,” says Gaby. She continues, “I can’t keep doing this to myself; I can’t keep doing this to my kids and then God answered my prayers because I got arrested.”
“For me, I think it was a blessing because God took me away from the drug saturated environment I was in. I got sentenced and part of my probation was being released to a program. I didn’t want to be released to the streets; I wanted to be released to a program. I knew about the Lighthouse through their shelter program but I never thought I needed help. This time I called, interviewed, and was accepted,” Gaby says.
“The Lighthouse has brought me closer to God. Before, I knew about him, but now I know him. He has brought my family around to support me as well. My relationship with my oldest son has healed. After I graduate he offered me to come live with him. Now that I am here, I’m doing what I need to do for myself and my daughter. I’m getting healthy. God is providing for my children even when I’m not there,” She continues, “I plan to graduate and do an internship but if that is not available I will find another job and save up and go live with my son in Colorado. I’ve learned here that if you find God you’ve found everything. Thank you to the donors for providing a roof over my head and clothes on my back because I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t come here.” Thank you for giving to the Lighthouse for Women & Children and helping change lives for good.
