From the Director

When people think of the Ventura County Rescue Mission, they usually think of the men in our shelter. But the reality is we care for hundreds of women and children at the Mission and Lighthouse all throughout the year. This picture is an example of the precious children who are in need of the basic necessities of life: food, clothing and personal items.

One little boy came to us and had worn out his sneakers. We gave him a brand-new pair of tennis shoes and his face lit-up! He didn’t care what brand they were; he was delighted just to have new shoes. There are literally hundreds of stories like this, so thank you all who provide comfort and hope to children and their parents.
