From the Director – February

As I sit thinking about 2018, I am both concerned and encouraged. My concern has to do with the escalating number of homeless men, women, and children on the streets of Ventura County. I am also concerned that the drug and alcohol addiction in this county is on the rise and this gives me great pause.

On the other hand, I am encouraged because of you and your faithfulness in supporting the Ventura County Rescue Mission and the Lighthouse. Many of you have told me the reason you give to this work is because of the success rate of men and women who have graduated from the programs. They aren’t just sober, but through job training, biblical studies, and educational commitments, they leave the Mission able to lead full, productive lives. All of our programming, housing, tutoring, and education is provided without cost—because of you!

Thank you in advance for your continued support as we give a hand-up instead of a hand-out. ~ John E. Saltee, Director
