Providing safe shelter and finding help for those experiencing homelessness has been our goal for 47 years. Some have the misconception that we only take in Christians— but nothing could be further from the truth. Although we don’t apologize for being a Christian organization, we do not discriminate on the basis of religion, gender, language, political opinions, national or social origins, or economic status. We provide clean and comfortable beds, a safe environment, clean clothes, and delicious meals to anyone who needs it.
Over a recent six-month period, our case workers helped 27 men and women in our shelters find employment, and 48 individuals secured stable housing. Part of the reason why our outcomes are not higher is because many of our homeless guests need recovery from drugs, alcohol, gambling, and other addictions. We encourage those with addictions to enter our life recovery programs. Once they graduate, employment and housing statistics dramatically increase. Our graduates find employment, and can move into one of our transitional housing facilities before settling into their own housing.
We don’t receive any government funding and all this is provided without cost. How is this possible? Because of the generous support of the citizens of Ventura County who believe in the Mission. ~ Director John E. Saltee
