There is a television commercial which shows several people inside a local rescue mission at Christmastime. A song is playing in the background and the lyrics “Don’t you forget about me” play over and over.
The next scene shows the holidays are over and now there is no music and very few volunteers, leaving most of the people inside alone. Yet the song continues: “Don’t you forget about me.”
The message is loud and clear: It is wonderful that so many give during the holidays, but remember, after the holidays, the need remains. More and more men, women, and children are finding themselves homeless and alone on the streets. Everything you give: your time (volunteering), your talent (teaching), or your treasure, will be used in providing life recovery to those who need it most. Thank you for not forgetting about the poor and the brokenhearted!
