Volunteer

Volunteers bring essential services to our neighbors in need. Each year, thousands of people offer their time, talent, and goodness of heart to help make a difference in the lives of those who are hurting and the homeless.

Opportunities are on-going, year-round, and constantly changing. At the Ventura County Rescue Mission and Lighthouse, there is a place for everyone with time to give.

VOLUNTEER FAQ’S

Who can volunteer?

We have received help from volunteers of all ages and walks of life. Children are encouraged to participate in mission volunteer activities if accompanied by an adult.

How do I become a volunteer?

Becoming a volunteer is easy. All you need to do is provide a completed Volunteer Application and present a photo identification when you get there. You will also need to attend a Volunteer Orientation.

Can I bring a group from my church, school, business, or club to volunteer?

Yes. Volunteering is a great group activity for your church, school, business or club. Some companies will make a monetary donationvc to the mission for every hour their employees donate to mission service projects. Please check with your human resources department at your workplace to see if they have a volunteer rewards program. Church youth groups and school groups teach values of community service to their students through volunteerism.

Do you provide the necessary training and equipment for volunteers?

Yes. We provide the training and equipment you need to safely perform your service.

Do you need help only during the holidays or are there opportunities to volunteer throughout the year?

We need a lot of volunteer help for our holiday events. But that’s not the only time we need help. We provide services to the poor and homeless 365 days a year. There are plenty of opportunities to serve throughout the year.
